Bailey, 20, was recognised by Penrith City Council with a Community Service Award for his outstanding dedication to helping others. His passion for giving back started young, volunteering in initiatives such as bushfire relief and park runs, and was shaped further by personal challenges. After losing his mother, Bailey stepped up to care for his younger siblings, an experience that strengthened the empathy, maturity, and leadership he shows today.

He later found a second family at Mama Lana’s Community Foundation, volunteering up to three shifts a week preparing meals, coordinating donationsand leading a weekly night service. Known for his warmth, humour, and genuine kindness, he makes people of all ages feel welcome and supported.

Boost for Charity

Mama Lana’s received a $20,000 donation from Enrich Abilities in December 2024, helping provide hundreds of meals each night to those in need.

Founder Lana Borg said the donation came at a crucial time, as rising costs and reduced donations had put pressure on the organisation. “The need for our meals is increasing all the time… it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time,” she said.

Enrich Abilities CEO Peter McKendry said supporting organisations like Mama Lana’s aligns with their values and provides vital first-line assistance to the community.

Gin Squad Goes the Distance for Mama Lana’s

At dawn along Penrith’s Nepean River, the Gin Squad, a local running group, took on 64 kilometres to raise funds for Mama Lana’s Community Foundation.

For this challenge, members Anthony, Rachael, Brad, and Sam ran 10 laps around the river, testing endurance, teamwork, and determination. Their efforts, cheered on by family, friends, and Mama Lana’s representatives, raised $3,400. Founder Lana Borg praised the initiative, noting that local efforts not only provide vital funds but also raise awareness. Each kilometre taken by the runners directly supports Penrith residents in need.
